Is it my responsibility to be a good role model?
In the course of time, Judah arranged for his firstborn son, Er, to marry a young women named Tamar. But Er was a wicked man in the Lord's sight.
Genesis 38:6-7
Be an example to all believers in what you teach, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
1 Timonthy 4:12
You yourself must be an example to them by doing good deeds of every kind.
Titus 2:7
I'm going to say, that it IS my responsibility as a believer in Jesus Christ to follow HIS example in how to live my life. I know full well that I cannot do this perfectly on my own, but I can make every effort to do so. I am reminded of Philippians 4:13 which says, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." If God has asked us to something, he always supplies what we need to do what is asked of us. Living our lives, following the example that Christ laid out for us in the Bible, loving those whom he loved and serving those whom he served, is all a part of living the life we are called to live as followers of Christ. So, I guess to answer your question, YES.
ReplyDeleteSee thats why we need Christ in our lives to help us, for with out him we can not be the person we need to be.... and to show other... we all know that satan is just waiting for us...and unfortunate satan does it when we our around non believer so they can said and you are a follow of christ... Praise God to help us to be like his son
ReplyDeleteYes, we are called to be good role models. The Bible is our instruction manual and the directions of how to live life as a follower of the Way is found from start to finish. Throughout Jesus' ministry here on earth, he taught those who followed what was expected of them/us. We are His light here on earth and as the saying goes, "We may be the only Bible people will ever see or read."
ReplyDelete"Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave" (Exodus 18:20).
"This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go" (Isaiah 48:17) .
"Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven" (Matt 5:19).
Great comments. For years I stood in front of Christians telling them that the world was watching them. Yes, it is our responsibility to be a good role model.
ReplyDeleteLast night I taught on the first four verses of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 3. You may remember that Paul was addressing the Corinthians and speaking about them not being mature Christians.
You see, as we mature as Christians, we should begin to think and act more like Jesus day in and day out. Each step of the way we should remember that He is with us and He should be part of the decisions we make.
Thanks for the great feedback, stay tuned for our next question. Charlie
